Feb 9th, day 21.....winter fest

Today, we all got up fairly early and before taking in winter fest uptown, we stopped at Walmart and picked up our new glasses...yeah!!! I finally have my librarian look and Harold is looking dapper in his new shades!

We didnt know what to expect with winter fest in Havasu, but were told the downtown streets were closed off and there was a mile of vender tents. Well, we were not disappointed! We definitely got our walk in today. In between dodging the throngs, most packing dogs in buggies or snugglies, we did manage to power walk a good portion of the streets. It was fun....and more shopping...at least for Harold anyway. He won with the most purchases. I bought another hat....never have enough hats!

We have been hearing the vrooooooms and partial visuals of what we surmised were radio controlled mini boats. I am sure the owners if these vessels will cringe at the 'mini boat' comment, but didnt know what they were until the guys went for a walk and brought back pics and info. The winter fest included radio controlled boat races. Quite the set up actually and inthe fellas found out these boats were VERY pricey, running upwards of ten grand. Vroom, vroom...

It certainly is cooler today...even a sprinkling of snow on the distant mountain tops. I actually wore a light sweater today ;). Harold was checking temps in Sedona and Grand Canyon, for our upcoming adventure to explore, but the temperature is below zero, snow and rain there, so will have to wait until later in the month.

Well, 'Bob' enjoyed the sunshine this afternoon on the deck and other pics Harold took are of our place from the historic London Bridge, and the boats racing.

The London Bridge was purchased from London, in 1968, for 2.4 million dollars. The bridge was numbered piece by piece, taken apart, and shipped over and rebuilt. It is the second most visited tourist attraction, to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The lamp standards were supposedly from Napoleon Bonapart's war canons....it is also haunted. We have yet to see apparitions, but have kept the drapes open so I can keep checking.

Xoxoxo
