Feb 26, day 38

Again, a not so exciting day. Worked on our fun puzzle and Steph wanted to go to Ross because it's Tuesday...and what , you say, is so good about Tuesday???.....it's 15% off day!!
Of course can't walk out without something!

Had a friend tell me today that she gardened all day today and her body was rebelling big time.
There comes a time when we have to take stock of the things we have been used to doing for years and hire someone to do the heavier chores. One of the things that drove me crazy here at the place we are staying (very few complaints so far!), was the chemical build up of spots in the glass shower....so what does Deb do you ask....goes and gets CLR and scrubs every square inch of it. Body rebelled, but mind hollered....YEAH BABY!

Ok, I will let you see my latest creations! The big thing down here are decorated hats. I bought one because they were so cool....which of course gave me an idea. I love the beading and love hats, so why not incorporate the two. The following pics are what I have come up with so far. I have most of my vintage pins and materials at home, but was able to put a few together with what I have. The scarf lady will now be selling hats at the arts festival this summer!

Feb 25, day 37

Still windy. Not quite as cold today though. Had a great brisk walk about nine this a.m. Lovely time of day! Slowing down still. Nice to have quieter days. Picked up a puzzle and we have been working on it together. Always interesting! Yeah Wysocky!

Typical stuff today...laundry, watching the water, dusting, watching the water, vacuuming, watching the water, no cooking, watching the water....oh hum drum life ;)

Went to the fancy restaurant next door for dinner. Very impressed.

I have to send special hugs to Darlene today. So sorry about Henry, know you will miss him.

Feb 23/24, day 35/36

Two very quiet days. Not much happening. Very high winds which made it difficult to partake in any of the local activities. We did go to the Sunday market today but pretty much got blown away...as did most of the vendors. We watched the happenings on the bridge this afternoon. They closed it down for the longest line dancing line, for the Guinness book of records. Was fun To listen to...hard to see too much from our deck. Picture doesn't show much but the thought was there. We got to watch Dannika in the Daytona 500 make history. Would have liked to see her win, but maybe next year. Oscars were fun. Thought they did a bang up job and Seth was good. Loved the dancing and movie memorabilia. Way to go Adele...you deserve it girl!

And while I am on the subject...who watches Downton Abbey??? Are we not really peeved at the conclusion of part three??? I'm almost mad enough not to watch it again...yeah, when pigs fly! How could they do this to the family. And my favorite character to boot! I have a few scenarios in mind as to what they are going to do...no doubt drama involved....of course!

Safe journey to Wayne and Mary and so glad that Gerry and Larry and their family are recovering. Safe travels to them as well.
Karin, thinking of you in the sun, and hoping you find what you are looking for.
Remington, have a wonderful trip to Europe and behave yourself or Papa Bill will be all over you! Will look forward to the tales when you get back!
Sandy and Geoff, installed a herd of little people in the back yard to conjure up a party for you to keep you busy!;)
Walkies...keep on truckin'....miss the conversation and laughs....
Diana and Marsha and Karin, sending my mom's golden band of protection to surround you all during this terribly hard time.
Gaye, what can I say...I miss our time together and look forward to a couple of days of girls R and R when we get home!
I miss all my friends and family and send huge huggage!!!

( turtle is from Hawaii, thanks to Harold, but loved the picture!)

Feb 22, day 34

Home again, home again, ......
Another loooong day... Another great day! We had a couple of hours to kill before our luncheon date at Sherman's. we were driving around looking for pawn shops and came across the McCormick car auction. Preparations happening for the weekend auction. So fun to walk the parking lot and admire all the incredible cars...old and new. Beautiful, and made our morning.
Met Bob and Judy and Armande for lunch. OMG , there is nothing like Sherman's New York deli and bakery! Soooooo delish!!! Mile high sandwiches and even higher cakes! Great to see Bob and Judy and Armande. So good to catch up. After. A visit to see Armande's new digs in Caliente Springs, and Roos' accommodations across the street, we headed for home. First time driving in the dark, but Bill did a bang up job of getting us home safe and sound. Everybody hit the hay upon arrival, but diehard me is up talking to you.
Think that bedtime story needs a happy ending....nitey nite.

Feb 21, day 33

Another road trip! Up early, and off we drove ( well, Bill drove) to Palm Springs. We headed to Cabazon to the outlet mall. Was a good walk anyway....with fewer parcels than anticipated!
Costco the second stop...no list, but doesn't seem to matter, always a basket full! We were lucky enough to be invited to Sally and Bryan's for dinner. Wow! Awesome roasted chicken....want that recipe Sally! The six of us went to the night market in Palm Springs. They close the main road down and venders set up for about six blocks. Lots of fun! Again, came home empty-handed.! Bill was, I'm sure happy on that one. Was a wonderful day!

Feb.19/20, day 31/32

Well, yesterday was a write off. Really didn't do anything worthwhile writing about, so onto today. I spent the whole day working on a craft project. Not quite ready for show and tell yet, but I am hooked!

We had a bit of rain this morning and High winds but we had balmy weather compared to other parts of Arizona! Snow all over the place and sooooo glad that we went to the canyon the other day! Covered in snow up there now, and in Tucson and Sedona....at least that's what the weathergirl has told us.....brrrrrrrr

We are off to Palm Springs tomorrow for a couple days. We are going to Sally and Bryan's new digs for dinner tomorrow night, of course after spending several hours at the outlet mall. I never thought someone could out shop me down here, but Harold wins this one. Ok Harold, you are number one!

We are all going to the night market, which should be fun! Friday is lunch at Sherman's (yummy!) with Bob and Judy. So much to catch up on!

Karin, we are thinking of you...safe travels.

Gerry and Larry, our thoughts and prayers are with you and we hope your family has a positive outcome to your trials you are going through.

To all our friends and family still in the wind and rain, we miss you.

Mushy hugs to the kids...big and little.

Feb 18, Day 30...a 'grand' day

We got up early and headed into downtown Williams and made it just as the Canyon Railroad train was heading out. Got a video of the train leaving as well as some great pictures. Luc, all the train pics are for you!....., on to the Grand Canyon....

Well layed plans do sometimes go awry! What we had planned did not work out...yes, we got to the canyon, went to the IMAX theatre to see what that would be like and give us an introduction to the spots available to see.... we went to the wrong desk and ended up with a helicopter trip. All four of us took a spectacular trip high above one of the seven wonders of the world! What an awesome experience. Harold and Steph had never been, either to the canyon , or in a helicopter...needless to say today was a day for all of us to remember.

What incredible weather we had, beautiful, perfect sunny day,...cool but loved that. It is to snow there Wednesday, so our timing was perfect. In the pics you can see there is still snow on the mountains.

Feb 17, day 29. Happy birthday Jen

Great day today! Got up early and took off for Sedona. Weather was perfect! They are freezing their buns off here, but we loved it. Cold and clear..
Sedona was beautiful and after a great lunch downtown, we went for a drive all around the area. So beautiful and nothing compares.

We headed back towards Williams, and plan on heading to the Grand Canyon tomorrow....

The train is for Luc.

Feb 16, day 28

What a fun day today. Well....this is what happened......
Steph and I deliberated on what we were going to give the fellas for Valentines, and while we were getting ourselves beautified we decided to share the wealth and give the guys the same experience. We got them gift certificates for their first pedicures! What a performance this morning. I think they were a tad nervous, but both good sports and off we all trucked this morning to Tammy's Nails up the road. In they went...with a 'aren't you coming with us' mumble under the breath. ... Was so precious! We were good girls and waited. We had more fun with all the clientele asking us how the devil we ever got them n the door, as every one of them have been trying to talk their husbands into going! If you listen to Bill, he will tell you that we never gave them a choice! Overall, it was a great experience, for everyone, with one small exception. Harold had a small blister on the bottom of his foot and after a good scrubbing was a very tad tender!

The rockabilly reunion and winter blast weekend is in full swing with a regatta today right out side outer door. We walked down the walkway enjoying the hundreds of boats travelling the canal towards the lake. I think the guys were very interested the mode of apparel some of the younger ladies were wearing! ( or not wearing!)

Just sitting here having a happy hour of sorts and enjoying the boats, and people and low rumbling engines on these beauties ( the boats, not the people)(well, could be....)
So perfect.

We are off to Sedona and the Grand Canyon tomorrow. ...............

Feb 15, day 27

Well, I got beautified today. No need to elaborate!

Went for a walk by myself as the sun was coming up....such a great feeling.

There is a rockabilly reunion today across from us. A lot of very strange grouping of music, vendors selling everything from baby clothes to pole dancers...literally! The car show was interesting with lots of great vehicles.

I have a new project that I will show you as soon as I figure out what I'm doing...to be continued on that one.

We made our arrangements today for a short trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon on Sunday and monday, and then Thursday a trip to Palm Springs. Harold and Steph have never been to either. We have friends in Palm Springs, so will be nice to see them...and of course the night market...awesome!

A sad day today as a good friend, David Stewart passed away yesterday very unexpectedly. So,sad at such an early age. So unfair. We send Diana and her family huge hugs at this difficult time.

Pics to come......

Happy Valentines Day, day 26

Fun day today! Got up this morning and went for a walk by myself. Have included some pics of the beautiful park around the canal.

We all piled in the car and drove to Oatman, Arizona. Not sure why as the pics will tell. Actually, just being facetious because the drive was great, and the place, although scarey, was fun and a definite adventure! The white 'baby' is only two weeks old and already used to people petting him. An albino to boot! Donkeys run wild in the streets and you can buy food for them from vendors. They are healthy little fellas.

We saw a beautiful mountain goat all by himself on the way up. He was curious about us so he stopped a lot to get a look at us. Still hard to get a good picture from the car, but the one is not bad.

We set the GPS to Kingman, which is on a different highway, to check it out. Well! The road on the screen looked like a felt pen gone wild!!! We have never been on such a windey narrow uneven road...and it was Wonderful! What fun and the valley where Kingman Lays is really fascinating. A well worth while trip! Another day well spent!

Made an absolutely delish dinner...baked chicken thighs and roasted veggies!,,,, yum!!!
Then another American Idol night. I know, I know !!!

Going to Rockabilly tomorrow ( have no idea, but a little male birdie told me they are having a bathing suit contest!). They have been setting up tents for days and there is a fantastic car show with hundreds of show cars, vendors, and fifties music. Will try to send pics as well.k

Happy valentines day!
