We have had no wifi for a couple of days so need a carch up. Cant backtrack or lose connection so not sure what I've said previously. So semi short version....train late from Paris so we list/missed reserved connection in Mannheim...good ol' Octoberfest has blasted chances of getting any replacement reservations to Munich, so had an interesting time with the ticket agent trying to get us on a train. We had choices.... One person go on next train with three following an hour after that OR an even later one than that we can all go but no reservations on first leg and confirmed seats on second leg into Munich. Not too bad to stand fir the first hour if need be i guess! Only problem with that scenario was that two if us were in the first train separated by an attached engine and the ither two in the back if second train... And only one ticket for all four! Sue and Terry had to keep fingers and all other apendages crossed that their photocopies and explanations of train trouble would keep them from being thrown from the train!!! They did have hassle but guess they must not have looked like criminals because they were allowed to stay on board... Whew! Catastrophy averted! We also got a seat so no standing. Love that ticket agent. She did us good!
Our trip from the station to our hotel was fun as we had ' Mario Andretti' behind the wheel! He must gave wanted to get back ti the station because he literally took our life in his hands with the trip!!!!
Hotel we booked was fantastic. One of the nicest hotels we have ever been in and considering its octoberfest a VERY goodvalue! Thank you Sue!!! Certainly the best service in a restaurant. Bar non a five star.!
We had good tutaledge on traversing the underground on our trip so as old pros we made our way todowntown to experience the sights of this beautiful city! I could come back here no problem! Very clean and comfirtable and the people are charming!
Some if the best food we've had on the trip and like i said ... The service was white glove
I'm sad to go home but excited as well. The kids are coming to stay after we get home and i cant want to see Mason. Havnt seen him since June and want to see Jen and Ryan as well. Miss them all! Will be so good to catch up and get our hugs in!
Until we meet again! From Munich...

One more night in Paris!
It's been a fantastic visit here and a fantastic day. Even though the guys were a little under the weather they were troopers and the four if us walked about forty minutes to the D'Orsay gallery. OMG was it fantastic Renoirs, Picasso , Monet, Manet, Toulouse Lautrec and so many more! Awesome works in an awesome gallery. We left and picked up a picnic and sat and ate in a charming little Parisian park. Was so nice to finally not be rushed. The boys were once again troopers and went and did laundry. I got to put my feet up and have a snooze in between eliminating a hundred pics off my camera! Does that give you an idea of how many I actually have left???
Oh yeah did I tell you about our last evening. So special saying goodbye to the wonderful people we have spent the last three weeks with. And our guide and now friend Lusa from Bothel Washington. What a wonderful person she is. This trip would not be the same without her! We said our goodbyes and walked to the Eiffel Tower. I sure wish I could post the wonderful pics I took! I will do that when I get home. What a site. We stood under the tower looking up. OMG
It's been a cornocopia of wonders here in Paris. I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed everything... Even the metro...well maybe not enjoyed it but pretty much figured it out. Even how to distinguish the pickpockets . You have to be here to appreciate the beauty and history.
We are going out for a last supper here with a couple we met Jon and Mary. Been fun to spend time with both if them. Mary is a fantastic jeweller and has given me lots if great ideas.
Arivoir!

The French Connection
I cannot believe how be beautiful this city is!!! Coming into it I still have not picked my jaw up from the floor! We have had a wonderful day...Got here just after lunch and checked into our funky hotel and then checked out Notre Dam cathedral. I am still in awe!
Just got back from a beautiful dinner in the town square! OMG... There are several million people in Paris... Largest number of people in a European city. Wall to wall people sitting out on the sidewalk side by side. Was an interesting day learning the metro system and all the pickpockets. Ran into several .
Getting tired do off to bed. Up early to go to the Lourvre tomorrow morning and the orsay gallery in the afternoon.
Miss everyone

Oui oui, mes Amis!!!!!
Ah, France it is today! We left the beauty of the Swiss alps for the beauty of France! Arrived in Beaune this afternoon with sunshine following us the whole day! We were introduced to a wonderful vintner and her winery and her wines! Yuppers Deb imbibed! After a few glasses( actually just part glasses) of vino we found a great outdoor restaurant to try beef bourgignon ! To die for! Very Bon!
We are off to Paris tomorrow to see Notre Dam and then the Lourvre the next day. Will be sad to say aurivour soon!

The Swiss Alps!
Got up early this morning and took the tram up to ten thousand feet to a revolving restaurant at the top of the world!!!!! What an amazing day! We walked and walked and walked through the Alps over hills and dales and through the forests. We had picked up a picnic lunch so sue, Terry, Bill and I parked our butts and enjoyed the view overlooking Murren Switzerland. OMG what a View. Will post pics when I get home. We are overtaking the restaurant trying to do emails nd get caught up on wifi. Our hotel is Heidi's house ( at least looks like it at he edge of town with nothing around) and our room is grandma 's attic! Literally!!! Squeaky floor and everything. Pine room with single beds end to end. Fun overlooking the valley . We have had an interesting time with Swiss francs and the expensive cost of everything. My lunch alone yesterday was 25 francs which is about 40.00 Canadian
And I just had fruit and cheese ns a water ( water was 5 francs for a small bottl). Needless to say we will not be eating here much more !
Miss everyone

Oh what a beautiful day! Cinque Terre
Words cannot describe how beautiful, fantastic, perfection ( but still no toilet seats ....) and the food!!!!!
We actually got to sleep in this morning. Awoke at eight and then read for half an hour !!! Talk about decadent!!! Had breakie and then we headed off to Levanto which is one town over to the north ( I think) and wandered around with new friends Mary and Jon from Fargo North Dakota They had been there before and Mary, who is a fantastic jeweller wanted to go back to check out this great bead and pottery store she had been to at that time. Of course I could not decline the invitation to join them so the four of us headed out on our adventure. We bought train tickets not having a clue what to do we muddled through and made it through all the pick pocket threats and wandered the streets looking for this shop. Don't know how we did it but our muddling paid off and they found it!!!... And did we have fun!
Girls had fun and boys lounged outside under the shade of a big tree waiting for us. We were awhile!
We had a beautiful lunch at an outside cafe and then back in the 'mugger central' train and headed past Monterosso ( where our hotel is) and headed for Vernazza. Holy cra-!!!!!picture post card scrumptious. Did I say I love it here?
We checked out the marina and then took the ferry back to Monterosso. Bill went sunbathing if course on the sands of the Mediterranean....how cool is that!
I visited with sue and terry and had show and tell!
Jon made reservations at a beautiful restaurant on top of a cliff. What a view! Spectacular!
Our day ended with , of course sidewalk gelato !!!!!yum
Off to Switzerland tomorrow! Supposed to be sunny again!
I have to go I am falling asleep while typing and my spellcheck is having a field day!!!
Love and hugs

Roma!
It's Friday... I think
OMG. What a day! Yesterday was soooo tiring. We walked to the Colleseum. Awesome place. Then walked from there to the Parthenon. Sooo very awesome! Incredible dinner. Supposed to be a small finned and ended up with another five course Italian dinner. Awesome! Walked from
There to the Trevi fountain. OMG it is so wonderful and bigger and than expected and I was awe struck with the beauty if not only the day but the whole day!!! We learned how to use the subway and sll did magnificently. Even after all our hints on how to protect our possetions one of our group was swarmed and robbed on the subway. Another story! On the way back the woman's hubby was robbed. Can't believe the luck. About 65 euros together. We got back and after sll the vino we had at dinner without too much problem. And all fell into bed! Never woke up until six this morn.
Now today we did the Vatican. Oh boy. Now we are once again exhausted . We literally walked our assisis off!!! Tomorrow we get a relaxing six hour bus ride to cinque e Terre. Yippee!
So much stuff but have to go to bed... Up at six again and on the bus at 8 .
Good night all

A beautiful day in Florence
Well another whole page lost to the wind. That's what I get for writing late at night and dozing off. Who knows what buttons my sleep filled mind pushed. Whooshhhhh and gone!
Had an incredible full day in Florence. We were able to sleep in a tad and breakie at our leasure. Oh mis amicis! We did not know what was in store for us! We walked our assisis off!!!!! Spent the morning wandering the marketplace. HUGE!!! Seemed to go for miles, and the prices were unbelievable Italuan leather sooooo cheap. Picked up a couple of small purses. Can't bring much home as we are so tight already for space. The four of us had a wonderful lunch in a sidewalk trattoria. Yum!!!! Wehad a guided you tour of the Uffizi gallery in the afternoon. Oh my god when we got around the sore feet and broken backs we were all in supreme awe!!! I saw the Boticellis'. which was one mark off my bucket list! Venus is huge but very pastel in Colorado which surprised me. Original Color. We saw Leonardo paintings and so much more. All donated to the city by the Medici family. Incredible!!!there are 90 rooms of art. Needless to say we did not see everything. Had an awesome local guide
We staggered back to our hotel and collapsed outside at our wonderful cafe below the hotel Sat outside on the sidewalk and people watched. Bed came fairly early. And heard nothing if the street below!
We are off to Roma this morn so will return! Except not late tonight!
Amore!!!

Venice day 2. Sept. 16,2013
Another fantastic day. Perfect breakie then a guided walking tour of the city by this wonderful local guide whose name I can't remember. Lovely girl and excellent English. What an intriguing city this is
Such beauty on the inside but she's wearing thin in the outside. We had an afternoon on our own so wandered the streets and picked up done Venetian glass jewelry. Wow! We were still full from our Italian four course meal the night before so just a panini from a tiny shop close to the hotel worked perfect for din din.
We had a fantastic gondola ride on the canals. Our boat with the four of us was joined by a musical duo. He played the accordion and she performed several operatic Italian songs. It was a real treat but felt sorry for Bill as he was squished by me on one side and a large loud accordion on the other. The other boats with us were entertained by this beautiful singer and so enjoyed the experience we couldn't complain at all and Bill was a trooper about it all. I think he secretly enjoyed the singing!
Had a cuppa nightcap at sue and Terry's abode before bed to recap the day. Awesome does not describe it accurately ...
Special hugs to Mason from Wayway and Bubum!

Venice, Sept 15/16 Sunday/Monday
Buongiorno! Italy... Can't believe it. And Venice to boot. Wow!
Was still raining as we came in but I think going to be nice now. Very humid but so far so good. Finally maybe get to unpack the summer clothes !
I can't believe the shopping here. You can't use a mask shop a purse shop a shoe shop a glass shop or a jewelry shop as a visual reminder of where you are because every second shop is one of the above. We had to have an orientation on how to read signs because you are walking Down very narrow tall alley like streets and you can't use church steeples as a guide. Should be interesting to see who gets lost today. Long bus ride yesterday with a rude awakening to Italy. Another story.
Beautiful several course dinner. Sooooo full and late! Had a perfect breakie this morn with jam filled croissants fruit and tea! A good cuppa for a change. Gotta run right now but will wow you with our excursions later....

Rothenberg, Germany, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013
WOW
These places just keep getting and better! I LOVED Bacharach, but Rothenberg is truly superb ! This is a walled medieval town and has the best shopping we have seen yet..... Not that we have been looking ;-).
Checking out fonts...hmmmmm
Hmmmmm... Old standby!
Had a nice bus ride from Bacharach to Rothenberg this morning. Got here about noonish. Found an adorable authentic restaurant for lunch then Sue and I split from the fellas and went our own wayward ways. I was on a mission to find a watch ! I know, I know, this watch lady without a watch you ask? Yuppers..... I not only broke my alarm clock, the watch strap on my good watch bit the dust for the third time and the brand new watch I bought quit working... So if course had to go find one that works. Now in The European cities we have been into so Farsi not believe in big stores but family owned small places if business. Keeps them operational. Smart actually. You can find a separate store for just about anything. Although both Sue and I have been looking for a water bottle. They keep telling us they're in the cooler. A North American thing I'm told. Ah when in Munich we' ll look.
We had another delightful meal... Jumped into the first place we could find to get out of the rain...actually had veggies....what a treat! Carbs and protein! No dieting here! But....having said that I dint think I have seen an overweight person yet except tourists!!!!! Imagine, maybe there is something hidden here... Must investigate.
Went to the town centre at 8:00pm and met up with a lively gentleman from medieval times called the "night watchman". Third from the bottom of the food chain as he likes to tell it!!!
We had an interesting walking tour if the city with about a hundred if his closest other friends
The rooms have been incredible and different and charming and we left the elevators behind after the second stay! Today we hiked a bit up!
It is still raining. We are all running out of winter clothes! There were a few who ventured out this morn in shorts and sandals! I have to admit I went the sandal route as well!
We have heard from Darlane and John and they are so close in Koblenz but we are heading in opposite directions! Was fun to hear about their experiences in Germany as well. I honestly did not know what to expect and have been so tickled at all the wondrous things we've seen and done so far. As you can probably tell I am feeling much better today. My rest yesterday made all the difference.
Wifi acting up so going to go. If spellcheck has intervened hope u can figure things out!

Bacharach Germany sept 11 2013
What an extraordinary town! I think it's the 11th but didn't want to check my phone and lose connection again. Very precarious!!! Had a wonderful walkabout through this beautiful town with a gentleman in his 80's who told very moving stories of his life here during the war and the occupation. His brother had to enlist and never came home. So very sad. Not a dry eye! I opted to stay back this afternoon while the group went in a castle and cruise excursion. I would have loved!!!!tge cruise but I really needed proper medication ( thank goodness for translate!) excellent pharmacist! All in all a fantastic day and looking forward to a special dinner prepared by our hotelier and chef, Kurt .

Excitement mounts!
Only five more sleeps and we are off to Europe with Sue and Terry. Cannot come soon enough! A month having fun...and NO cooking! I am in heaven just thinking about it. This is a precursor to the blog of our travels, so hope I can get this working on my phone. Will check it out. I know I will not be able to post pics unless I take them on my iPhone and not my camera.....to be continued.

April 12/2013
Well, insured the mustang today. It was such a beautiful day we went for a burn around town. Bill was a softie and wouldn't let me put the top down! He did though polish it all up...it sparkles!!! Such a pretty car. Bought a decal for the window while we were in Arizona. Won't tell you what it says! We drove to the spit and went for a walk. Beautiful brisk day! Tyee clubhouse looks better than it ever has. Lights were installed today in the wharf parking lot. Will make such a difference.
Sometimes, my hubby just amazes me! ( regularly ).... He reads every word in the paper as well as all the ads and he says....they have a mattress sale on, lets go have a look. Well, blow me over and if I had mentioned I wanted a new new one he would have pooh poohed it because our 19 year old mattress is still pretty good! But......we slept on the most incredible bed in Lake Havasu and had the best night's sleeps ever....so knew there were more out there that were better than what we had. Picked out a great one and it will be delivered Saturday. Also checked out washers and dryers and fridges.....be till my heart!!! We have been here for 19 years and frivolousness is not Bill's strong point! What we have will eventually break down and then wallah!....replacements. One can only hope the appliance gremlins will demolish soon!
I had the most incredible experience the other day. We stopped at a Karin P's and were chatting away and she mentions one of my mom's good friends Bente. I ask 'how do you know Bente?' And she replies 'my dad and Bente's husband Hebo went to school together and I have known her for years'. Small world and even more remarkable because Karin ran into her downtown Campbell River, and she doesn't live here. She gave Karin something to give to me. It was a prized, coveted pastel of Chief Dan George that my mom had done in 1969. It was always a family favorite and mom loved it and won first place in the IPE (Interior provincial exhibition). It disappeared years ago and I never knew where. Mom had given it to Bente and with her moving to a smaller place she thought we would like it back. I never cried when mom died....long story....but when Karin brought out this picture.....I couldn't breathe and I couldn't stop crying. I am so moved, not only to once again have this picture on the wall, but that Bente was generous enough to have it come back to the family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Bente! I am forever in your debt. It has a special place on the wall and every time I look at it I shall remember my sweet mom.
Allergies are down considerably today. Hope to get a good walk in on Saturday. We are off to see the kids on Monday so want to be healthy before!
Saw Sue today. Oh my goodness, I am sending as many good vibes and mom's golden band of protection to surround her! I have never seen anyone so sick and my heart aches for her. Not fair for anyone to suffer so! Please get feeling better soon my friend. Huge huggage to you!!!
Well, didn't think I would have anything to say today! Ah well, just let the fingers do the talking!
Have a good weekend.....

April 2013 the end of our journey
What an incredible trip home. No rain for the very first time....actually saw the Tacoma Dome without windshield washers! Didn't hit rain until Vancouver Island...wouldn't ya know it!
Had a wonderful visit with Bill and Geri in Anacortes. Wish it could have been longer. They were both under the weather and we wanted to get home for Dave Stewart's celebration of life. Was good to see Diana and all the fellas from Elk Falls, that we hadn't seen in so long. Such a sad thing to happen and our hearts break for Diana. She has wonderful friends and family that will be looking after her though.
Had stupid hay fever/allergies since we got home. Another 'wouldn't ya know it!' Been keeping me off the walking trail! Was so looking forward to seeing the girls and getting back into it. Saturday for sure! Will try the flats on the walkway today and see if the coughing will be stymied!
Enough! Back to reality and the daily happenings of real life. I have been asked to keep this blog going with daily updates, but I don't know if our life warrants a perusal that often. We do have some fun and interesting things occur on occasion, so have decided to continue use, but only when warranted! Will also continue with the pictures and crafty projects.......
See you all soon.

April 1/2. On The Road Again!.....
Two full, great days of travel. Left Lake Havisu yesterday morning, with sad hearts, but know we have lots to look forward to at home, and can't wait to see all the kids!
Stayed in Modesto California last night. First time I as disappointed in the hotel. Great room, but we were so spoilt with such a great bed that changing to a hard one was 'hard'! Both of us bent over like old folks this morning! Lol.....
So enjoyed the trip today. We are in Springfield, Oregon tonight and the trip was soooo beautiful. Have taken lots of pictures so hope you enjoy the supreme beauty as we did.
Oh yeah, and a must have stop at The Olive Pit! And Albertsons for an incredibly good dinner. Spinach, almond, red pepper, onion salad with hot bacon vinegrette! YUM YUM. What a good day!
Hope you had as grand a day as we did....

March 31st. Our last day in paradise.....
It's been a very sort of sad day. One more sleep and then we are off on our homeward bound adventure. Car is packed, bellies are full of pizza ( yummy home made from next door), and Amazing race on T.V. It is quite windy out so not sitting on the deck. Yup...almost over.
Happy Easter everyone. Hope you had great turkey dinners with your families and friends.
Hugs to Ryan, Jen and Mason!!! We miss you.

March 30th. Happy anniversary ...OMG 28 years!
Packed the car up today....worked up a sweat! What a chore after almost three months away!
It was soooo busy on the water today. It was constant boats. Very entertaining! Kept Bill with the spy glasses attached to his face all day! Took a beautiful picture of the sunset this evening....I know another water picture...sorry, I just can't help it! ;)
Yup, he did take me out for dinner. It was good actually. It's been a nice day for us. We will miss this entertaining view. Been watching the bungy ride across the channel. Picture doesn't do it justice. Two people are slung up about 30 feet above the two poles, in a small round cage! Very scary, but the kids love it. Lots of screaming!
Two more sleeps!!!

March 28/29
Quiet days. Puttering trying to get things packed and organized for the return trip. Eating up what food we can. Talk about an eclectic array of meals! Interesting if nothing else....
Going out for dinner tomorrow night....well, it is our anniversary. 28 years of wedded bliss.....smiley face inserted!
Hi and hugs to all the munchkins, friends and family. An extra special one to Sue and Terry. So sad to hear about Madison. I know you'll miss her.
Welcome home to Remington...safe travels and see you soon!
Going to dig into the archives for some pictures you havn't seen.

March 26/27
What a wonderful day yesterday with Bryan and Sally! We had a delightfully restful morning sitting outside having breakie and coffee. Took a drive to see the Parker dam. We were hoping we could come across the burrows for Sally to see and photograph, but they must have all been hiding. No luck....but I did manage to have a little luck at the casino in Parker. Came out of there with an extra hundred in my pocketbook. Good thing too, as the coffers were getting a tad low!
Sally cooked dinner... A scrumptious roast chicken and salad. Yummy! Thank you Sally!
They left early this morn on their way to the Pacific Ocean. Will be a great day to drive. A little cooler today. Took a picture this morn just as sun was coming up. Got a beautiful shot of the moon coming up last night over the bridge as well....oh right ...full moon! That's why the kids we're going a few octaves higher than normal. Took a bit to get to sleep. No problem tho as I got to watch the voice and dancing with the stars that i had taped, to pass the time. Really enjoying the voice this year with the addition of Usher and Shakira...didn't think I would enjoy her, but I like her a lot. A cutie !! And then Usher! A ladies man for sure. Love Adam, and Blake is so funny. Makes the incredible singers even more great to watch.
I can't believe only 5 more sleeps and we head home.....

March 23/24/25. Can't believe I missed three days!
Time is just a marching! Sally and Bryan arrived yesterday ( a very quiet day the day before so nothing momentous to report there), after waiting in the heat for road crews to let them pass! Had a nice relaxing evening and then this morn Sally and I Went for a short walk down along the canal. Beautiful morning.
The four of us went for a drive around town and the island. We stopped and had a picture op with the saguaro cacti and the smaller cactus are flowering. so very beautiful. went on the hunt mountain climbing for the close up shots!.....
And then to Barley's for an awesome lunch. When we got home we ended up going next door to Harry and June's to look at their 'business' of selling and collecting miniature replica buildings and monuments. Very interesting and an incredible couple. So fun!
We were still full from our late lunch we just had appy's on the deck and watched the sun set. We are so lucky to be spending time in this beautiful place.
Pics are a variety from grandson Mason to Darlene's little 'girl' Daphne. Both cuties!!!
Enjoy the pics of our day and then some......

March 21/22. Beautiful restful days
Well, what can I say...just too beautiful for words. Perfect temperature, fans a whirring and just the perfect day to kick back, sit on the deck and just watch the activity. It's the weekend coming so water is busy. Always fun to watch the different boats and watercraft.
It's sad to think that this magnificent holiday is coming to an end soon. One more week and we will be heading back to cooler climes. I am looking forward to getting back and seeing everyone though. Can't wait to see all the kids and the friends who stayed at home for the winter.
We have new weighmasters in the Tyee clubhouse. Actually friends from the condo. Bob and Judy Goodwin. Look forward to seeing what Floyd and his crew did to spruce things up down there for them. Will be a great summer with them there. Something to look forward to.
We have had such a great visit with friends and family while here. A whole incredible month with Steph and Harold, and then our visit with Bob and Judy, Robin and Larry for a shorter visit, and Sally and Bryan coming monday for a couple of days on their way Home. We are so blessed to have these special family and friends to spend time with.
Grandson Remington ( hugs kiddo!) will have left for his spectacular trip to Europe on a school adventure. Gaye's son Jason and his daughter Victoria are on the same trip. What a wonderful opportunity for them all and we hope they get to do lots of fun things and have a super time! Will expect an update when they get back.
Grandson Mason is just getting so big! Can't believe he 19 months already. Doing so much. Wish I could upload videos because I have such great ones that Jen has sent. Huge hugs to him from Gramma and Grumpa!
Nice night to all..xoxoxoxo

March 19/20
A wonderful last day with Bob and Judy. We topped off the day with a glorious dinner next door at Barley's grill. How can you beat lobster Mac and cheese?!?! Talk about yummy!
They left this morning and a sad day for sure. We will miss them. We had such a great visit. It is so seldom we get to spend time as we are all heading in different directions it seems. Was so awesome to catch up and do fun things without restrictions!
Had a very nice surprise this afternoon, when we got a phone call from friends from Victoria, Robin and Larry Polson, who are staying in Palm Springs. They were with friends heading to the Grand Canyon and stopped in here for a visit. Was great to see them!
Haven't taken any pics today, but yesterday on our walk we came across a remote control track and really enjoyed a dad and little guy racing his 'mustang'! Would have loved to try it!!! Just tried to load the video and the daddy blog won't let me...look for it down the line as I look for a way to upload.

March 18, day after St. Paddy's Day....
A busy fun day today with Judy. Spent the day roaming the city exploring shops...introduced Judy to Dillard's. what a great store. Salad at Subway. (For those who have not tried this, they are the best!)
Had Deb's famous spaghetti and meatballs, ( meatballs were a tad overdone, but still yummy!) and for those wheat belly eaters, try the sauce on baked spaghetti squash! You will be impressed. Had the most scrumptious fresh delectable pineapple and watermelon for dessert. Another yum!
The parties in full swing down the channel. Tried to take pics of the spectacular lights, but didnt come out as good as they are in real life....bridge at night is beautiful. And what is more beautiful than a spaghetti face???
